QMI-SAI Global Offers Greenhouse Gas Verifications

QMI-SAI Global is now accredited to offer greenhouse gas (GHG) verifications for members of The Climate Registry.  In GHG verification, assessments cover the accuracy, transparency, consistency, relevance and completeness of the data for a given time period.

The Verification cycle is 3 years and organizations must change verifiers after two cycles.  They may choose to start as a Transitional Reporter or report emissions for all six Greenhouse Gases for all operations in North America.  By opting for Transitional Reporting, they can take advantage of flexible reporting rules to test their GHG program and data management system for the next two years.

The Climate Registry (http://www.theclimateregistry.org/) is a voluntary program.  It’s a nonprofit organization created in 2007 that encourages early actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and supports future greenhouse gas reduction efforts across North America.  Its mission is to standardize and centralize high quality GHG data into a North American GHG registry to support voluntary and mandatory reporting programs

Our scopes of accreditation include:

• General - Organizational inventories (corporate reporters) e.g. public administration, education, transport, storage and communications, information technology, state and local government
• Manufacturing - Food products, household goods, textiles, wood products, pulp and paper, basic metals and fabricated metal products, electrical equipment, machinery and equipment, electrical and optical equipment, aerospace, medical devices, rubber and plastic products
• Power Generation - Combustion of natural gas or coal, Transmission and distribution
